It shows in my MSP Versions prior to Movie Studio 13 being released would not recognize Movie Studio 13 and would give a watermark. Of course you could try the update option inside the plugin to see if you'd get updated. I picked up some general tips from the tutorials and just got straight into it. Based on my fairly limited use, a simple edit is actually very straightforward really. Create a new project, select the video s you want from the one s in your library and then add to the video timeline. This automatically places the audio from the video in the timeline which is beneath the video timeline and away you go.
So far, I've been able to trim start and end points, split a video for footage I don't want in the final edit and attach it back to the main footage. Of course, there's a lot more to it than just that such as whether you want to match the output to the original video source, automatically join videos together etc. I'd recommend checking out some tutorials to understand the basics, but after that just get involved!

There's a preview window that again, with a bit of help from tutorials will make a big difference to how you begin, continue and then complete the editing process.

My experience using Platinum 10 is that the Main Concepts codec gives better results smoother video than Sony in certain situations -particularly where there is a lot of movement and things like cobblestone with movement. However, the rendering is way longer and the files are larger.
I don't know if this has been improved in MS 13 can't test because it won't run on my current Win XP setup , but I still have to consider Main Concepts in my final decision. I can't give you a concrete answer. It's not really a good idea to switch your Movie Studio projects from the 32 bit version to the 64 bit version or vise versa. Some of the software code is only written in 32 bit and some only in 64 bit. So you could end up with strange bugs appearing that drive you crazy.

I suggest a minimum of 8GBs will make you very happy indeed. Additionally, many of the Sony Video Fx plugins and Transitions have now been upgraded to be GPU Accelerated as well, which obviously helps improve user experience while editing and rendering.
